DAN BRUNN, FAIA, FOUNDING PRINCIPAL
Born in Tel Aviv and raised in Los Angeles since age seven, Dan Brunn's early memories of Israel's Bauhaus-rich “White City” profoundly shaped his design philosophy. The restraint and spatial clarity of those buildings taught him that how we experience space is of paramount importance.
Brunn earned his BA in Architecture from USC and his MA from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Since establishing his firm in 2005, he’s become known for balancing complexity with minimalism—a practice that began in childhood playing with Legos. He believes an architect’s role is to craft spaces that respect the site, provoke sensuous interaction, and heighten the user's connection with the space.
Sustainability is fundamental to every project, rooted in his Israeli heritage of respecting limited natural resources. His approach treats outdoor spaces as true extensions of indoor living, creating seamless environments where architecture and nature coexist.
FLIP FLOP HOUSE
Designed for avid photography collectors who wanted both ocean views and gallery walls, the Flip Flop House features ingenious rotating walls that literally flip-flop to reveal either artwork or vistas. Integrated indoor-outdoor balconies extend seamlessly into the eaves, where Infratech WD-Series flush-mounted heaters with Marine Upgrade provide invisible comfort—exactly the timeless, unobtrusive performance Brunn's designs demand.
