Founded in 2016 by Salomon Daniel and Dalia Feldman, SD Design Studio is an interdisciplinary firm based in San Diego. Their award-winning work includes nominations for International Interior Design Association Calibre Awards and Best of Houzz 2022 awards, among others, for projects that include modern residential and commercial design and development. Daniel and Feldmanâs work is influenced by their shared origins in Mexico City, as well as inspiration taken from travels and nature. Clients enjoy a high level of personal involvement from the SD team in every detail of a project. Much of their work incorporates spaces that blur the definition between interiors and exteriors, in order to make the most of mild coastal climates while also accommodating a clientâs lifestyle. Feldman says, âPeople want to spend time outside year-round in San Diego. Even if itâs a summer night, it tends to get chilly. ENCINITAS BEACH MODERN COTTAGE
For this 2,100 square-foot residence, located within blocks of the beach in Encinitas, California, Daniel and Feldman were challenged by a limited structural footprint on a large lot. The team converted sizable front and back yards into usable, livable spaces that blur the line between indoor and outdoor areas. The client had expressed a wish to spend the majority of time with her family outside, so Daniel and Feldman created an outdoor living and dining area accessed by sliding doors and shaded by a slatted pergola-style ceiling treatment.
