Project Spotlight: Cape Cod Residence

We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Cape Cod real estate expert, CRS, and best-selling author, Jack Cotton, about his experience with Infratech heaters and why they are a staple at his Cape Cod residence. As the current record-holder for the largest residential real estate sale on Cape Cod, Jack knows a thing or two about making the most of home while supporting his clients’ lifestyles and aspirations.

What drew you to Cape Cod?

There is something about the air on Cape Cod. I notice it instantly when I get off the airplane or jump out of a car after traveling. The pure, ocean-infused ‘clean’ is noticeable—instantly. That’s the reason I like to be outside as much as possible… it’s just heavenly.

You’ve accumulated decades of luxury real estate experience how did you get into real estate?

Officially, I started a real estate company in my college dorm room in 1974, although my interest in homes and real estate began as a child growing up on Cape Cod.

When did you realize there was a great need for outdoor heaters in a place like Cape Cod?

The ocean air in winter will freeze the marrow in your bones. Even in summer, we can have chills that reach your core, as was the case during all three of the busy summer holiday weekends this year.

How has your space benefitted from Infratech heaters?

A recent addition of Infratech Infrared heaters saved three unseasonably cold summer weekends, a November evening family birthday party, and hours of Zoom calls on chilly pre-winter mornings.

What do you enjoy about the heaters?
They are beautiful to look at, which is important since our installation is a retrofit, and the heat allows us to wallow in Cape Cod air no matter the season. It simply feels as if the sun is always out. At a recent birthday party, everyone wanted to be outside basking in the Infratech glow. It even made the ice cream easier to scoop!

The rest of the world is catching up to a Cape Codder’s love of the outdoors in recent times. It’s more than bearable nowit’s a treat to be outside, warm and happy with Infratech.

Has the desire for outdoor living spaces changed since before the pandemic?

Growing up on Cape Cod, I’ve always been an outdoorsy person. I have an outside shower that I use year-round, and have for more than 20 years. My Infratech heaters allow me to spend even more time outside, which I would be doing with or without the pandemic. People just don’t think I’m as crazy now!

Have you found that a home’s value or marketability are improved when designed with outdoor living spaces?

No question, especially in a rare and beautiful place like Cape Cod. People come here to be outside, not in. Anything that can extend that potential brings added value.
